[googlefont=Quicksand] [attr="class","blacks"] [attr="class","blacksw"] LACUNA [attr="class","blackswa"] [attr="class","quote"]❝ [attr="class","notquote"] `Envis 306 WORDS I'm very creative when it comes to titles. XDD | A flash of white fur hinted like ethereal light through the stealth of trees. Lacuna pushed her way through the abundance of greenery, her brown eyes widening with a jovial delight at the sight of a pond in the distance. The scent of game, both large and small, was very present in the air that wrapped her frame in a soft breeze. A quick huff of approval was given through her parted maw, followed by the brisk movement of her legs. She was cautious that the rough pads of her paws hit the ground softly with each step, keeping her figure low to the Earth. Like a doe, Lacuna's sharp ears pulled back towards every sound within earshot, her eyes flickering off her direct path as their attention was swept away. Soon, Lacuna stood before the lake, 'I'm so damn exposed,' she thought. Her mind pushed the thought towards the front of her mind until L.A. retreated and found a more secluded resting place near a collection of bushes and trees.
Lacuna had traveled far, searching the area for any signs of her species. Alas, she had not encountered even any of the canine species. Although it never pained the she-dog to live in solitude, she was tired of eating small game, and like hell she was going to bring down a buck on her own. Hunting even the young of the species was a dangerous bet, they were protected well in the herd.
And so the rogue wandered, aimlessly. She sought the comfort of a pack or even a small alliance. Something she could reply in and in return give her loyalty. Lacuna's feathery tassel swayed as she thought, dipping her cranium down towards the water. It wetted the tufts of fur that hung from her neck. She felt determined to obtain was she sought. |

Tagged: Enoki // Words: 371 // Notes: Sharing is caring. XD Lightly the bird between my jaws was crunched as I chewed and ripped off smaller portions to swallow. I had found the poor thing with a broken wing, and it was one of the rare times I hadn't felt too terrible killing prey. I hadn't eaten in days, which helped towards the decision. I had plucked as much of it's feathers as I could, but inevitably swallowed a few. They tickled going down my throat, but I wasn't complaining. Amidst my crunching of hollow bones I heard footsteps nearby, causing my ears to perk to attention. I lifted my head to try and see over the bushes I was using as shelter, easily realizing the stark white figure was another dog. What a poor coat color to have in any time but winter, I thought sadly. Figuring for this reason she may not have eaten in awhile, I got up and made sure to make noise as I hopped over the bushes so I didn't seem to be sneaking up to her, as I was behind her. Her smell suggested her gender, but I would wait to see.
I let a soft "eh-hem" announce my presence, bird still in my mouth. I kept my tail and head low, showing her I was no threat as I moved closer. I used my tongue to push the bird out of my mouth, dropping it at her feet. It was only half eaten, and though it was a sorry meal it was still sustenance. "I've already eaten." I only partially lied with a gentle smiled, backing away to show her the bird was all hers. I nodded my head just to make sure she got the message, letting my tail begin to slowly wag from side to side. I kept my ever present calm and submissive nature in place, hoping my gift would be taken as a kind gesture instead of an act of pity. So many had such high pride that sharing such a simple thing as food was offensive, so I could only hope she didn't think me pitying her for offering the food. She looked very capable despite her stand-out color, and I didn't want to get on her bad side. © BRAVE 2017

[googlefont=Quicksand] [attr="class","blacks"] [attr="class","blacksw"] LACUNA [attr="class","blackswa"] [attr="class","quote"]❝ [attr="class","notquote"] `Envis 406 WORDS I have no idea what her speech pattern will be like so bear with me lmao. | A soft noise of announcement startled the female more than she cared to admit. It showed, nevertheless. Her withers pulled taut, her umber eyes hardening. A threatened snarl ripped deeply through her throat, the sound escaping her locked canines. She whipped around to reveal another dog, like herself. Immediately, she ceased she aggressive gestures, though the stern expression remained stained across her features.
The dog was brute, one of a chocolate pelt; a broad muzzle accompanied by luminous orange eyes. His physique towered over her own, a mass of muscle-bound canine that could easily maul, though not outrun, Lacuna. The dog's physical disposition was entirely different; he had not cowered in fear but he had shown submissive behavior. It wasn't something commonly exhibited by brute's of his size, but yet here he stood, going out of his way to appear non-threatening. L.A.'s cranium gave a brief shake, allowing her body to release its tension. Merely because he had not yet demonstrated any violence towards Lacuna did not mean it wasn't his intention.
The scent of blood wafted up to the female's nostrils, twitching at the smell. It was enticing, to say the least. Lacuna's indifferent gaze trailed down her feet, where the remnants of a bird carcass. It was clear that the dog had eaten the other half, and only reaffirmed this with his words.
"I've already eaten," he said to her. His voice rang out through the she-dog's sensitive ears; it was one of the first canine voices that had come before her in a while. She allowed the sound to resonate with her for a few moments, returning her attention to the bird. Of course she wasn't shy in taking the prey, as he had given it to her in a truce of sorts, but she choked on her words of thanks. Instead, she merely dipped her head in appreciation.
Lacuna took the bird, tail swaying slowly as she ate. The metallic taste of blood filled her throat, overwhelming any previous stale flavor that had remained. It didn't take her long to finish what was left of the kill. When she did, Lacuna's head raised, eyes pouring into that of the male's. Despite his larger build, the dog did look significantly younger than Lacuna. An adult, yes, but one still learning how his world worked.
"Thank you," her feminine vocals carried an undertone of curiosity and weariness, "My name is Lacuna. You are?" |

Tagged: Enoki // Words: 444 // Notes: Poor awkward Xam. My ears fell when she turned and snarled, forcing myself to stay perfectly still. I didn't want an accidental fight to break out, and moving in any way may have prompted her to think I would react negatively. I waited until she calmed to offer her the bird, ears still down submissively. I was pleased when she accepted the food, glad she wasn't one of the proud ones, and bowed my head in a similar sign of respect. Or, at least, that was what I thought it was. A respectful gesture, or thankful. Either way, I felt the need to return in to her, so I did just that. All of my aspects perked as her tail wagged and she began to eat, a familiar warmth in my belly that was the result of being happy with myself. I was always saying how I wanted to help others, protect them even if I had to, so seeing myself follow through made me feel just a bit stronger.
I sat down when she thanked my, nodding and saying, "You're welcome. This place is plentiful, there's no reason not to share." It was extremely easy to catch things in this area, I was only limited because of my dislike of ending lives. I tried to stick to scraps because of this, playing the scavenger, because it just felt good to make sure nothing was wasted. Even when I wasn't hungry and came across an abandoned carcass I'd finish it or find the hunter. Sometimes hunters did lose their food, after all. When she told me her name I smiled and repeated it softly. "Lacuna. That's beautiful." I complimented gently, hoping it didn't come across as flirty. "My name's Xam. A little odd, I know." I smiled anxiously, not sure how many times my name had been commented upon. Although, really, most of those could be chalked up to my own sister and brother. Their names were normal, but as if planning me to be the odd one out my mother had given me this odd name. I wondered if it had a meaning, but tried to shake it off.
"You seem a little tense," the words left my tongue before I could really think about it. A soft whimper and I was looking away, whispering, "I-I mean, I just... it seems like it's been awhile since you had company... or maybe you're used to nasty company so you're protective?" I tried to salvage the question, only able to hope she didn't think I was being rude. I was concerned, truthfully. Dogs that reacted with aggression to new company usually had a prior reason to be defensive.
