Instincts
Twelve years ago in the year 1644 began the descent of man kind. Some say it was an act of someone greater, others say it was a test of who was worthy of ruling this world, but whatever test it may have been: humans were surely the ones to fail.
It started in a small town, illness falling upon a few of the villagers. Though they had no idea what it was and no clue of how to treat it, they had no fear of it. For this reason, the sickness spread like.... well, The Plague. With no protection against the plague and no cure for those affected, the world fell apart by 1649. Humans dwindled away until they became nothing more than a faded memory, hardly having enough time to leave their footprints on the world. Instead, the animals began to rule.
The first years of their reign were slow, many of the humans' companions and livestock were lost without their hand to guide them. A few even succumbed to the pressure of being self reliant and never made it past the beginning stages. However, natural selection worked in the favor of the animals and the world began to shift below their very feet. The animals, particularly the canidae species, were surviving. Heck, even a few began to thrive. By 1655, 6 years of living without the greedy fingers of the humans, Earth began to flourish more beautiful than it ever did while tended by the humans.
With the Earth more beautiful, the land more fruitful, and the natural order of things beginning to become established; the canines began their reign of the world. Small groups began to become established, consisting of any canines willing to tolerate the company. Territories began to become established which also meant rivalries, disputes, and war began to rear their ugly heads.
Currently, the year is 1656. The beginning stages of war are affecting the creatures here, but they are ignorant to who the real enemy truly is. Are you willing to stick around long enough to find out?
