I had always imagined waterfalls as large, towering cliffs of rushing white water. As I went on my travels, I was finding small waterfalls like the one before me. I knelt down to lap at the water to quench my thirst, thinking of what this place would be if it were a taller waterfall. I went off on a tangent of thought, finally shaking my head and stepping back from the thought-inducing water. My tail swayed to one side as I turned my large body around and started back towards a small patch of pressed grass. I had made a small home out of this place the past few days, and had worn in this patch as the most comfy spot. As I laid there, I kept my head up and looked around for any other signs of life. The birds were happily chirping as they flew past or settled in the trees, rabbits hopped across the ground and nibbled at flowers that were to their liking. With a soft chuff I put my head down on my paws and just enjoyed nature.
Some thought me odd, for not pouncing on the rabbit and eating it. Well, I wasn't hungry. And even if I had been, killing anything was incredibly hard for me. I had never even been able to snatch a fly out of the air, oh the laughs that got! My size was mocked as a gentle giant, but I really didn't feel all that large. Part of me knew it was because of growing up being belittled physically and emotionally, but when asked if I knew I could never give the same answer. Perhaps shame prevented it, that my sister had instilled in me so much fear and sorrow. I wasn't a normal male dog, and I accepted that, I only asked others to respect it. As the sun reached it's highest peak in the sky I closed my eyes and tried to settle for an afternoon nap. © BRAVE 2017 Speech: "3d2139"

❝ We all must be dreaming this life away in a world so cold ❞
It was a beautiful day - there was definitely none denying that. Honestly, even though she had left her more mountainous home months ago, Pandora still couldn't help but be astounded by how...different it was here. Where it wasn't snowing everyday - or where she didn't have to worry about being frozen alive. Sure, it occasionally got a little too hot for comfort with her thick fur...But, it was much better than having her fur caked with ice!
Still..home was...well, home. Sometimes, it felt odd having soft grass bend beneath her paws instead of hard ice and cold stone...Sometimes she missed smelling the bitter winds or feeling the cold breeze....Which was what had possibly led her...here. Wherever 'here' was. She could see a mountain of some kind looming in the distance - it was unlike the long chain of mountains she had once called home but...eh, she wasn't picky! Even the sight of it standing proudly among the calm of nature made her let out a soft breath.
Yes...this was her new home.
Shaking out her thick fur, her large tongue lolled from her mouth as she trotted along the stream bank. The cool water running along her paws did wonders in helping her stay cool. Occasionally, the female dog spotted a rabbit or two...in which she'd lurch after it. Not to catch it - more so just to 'play'. She had tried telling the fast creatures this several times already. "Wait, wait, don't run! I just wanna play - I won't eat ya!" She'd bark in a frenzy after them, but, it never worked. The terrified critters responded by charging back into their holes, leaving the giant dog standing - waiting. "Okay, okay! I'll wait - come back out when you're ready to play!"
The poor, overly-friendly dog actually waited was the funny part. At first, she sat, idly licking her lips. 10 minutes passed and she was on her side, idly pawing at the grass. Another 10 minutes passed and she was on her back now, bored as could be. "Jerks..." she grumbled, more than likely referring to her 'bunny pals'.
Heaving herself back up to her paws, she finally decided to abandon her attempt at playing with the rabbits in favor of beginning to trot about the area once more. Her odd-colored eyes keenly observed the beautiful surrounding, taking in each detail. It looked utterly...peaceful, utterly balanced, utterly - whoa, what was that?!
Her floppy ears briefly perked, her curled, wagging tail briefly pausing as she craned her neck forward, one paw hovered in the air. Within the soft undergrowth of grass and flowers, there was...another dog! But, they weren't moving?....Wait a minute....
As over dramatic as always, Pandora jumped to the last and worst conclusion ever - this canine was possibly dead. It hadn't even occurred to her that maybe, just maybe, they were sleeping - nope, not one bit. And so, she loudly pranced forward, nearly pouncing onto the resting body. "Hey, hey! Open your eyes - you're not really dead, are you? Come on, open your eyes!" She partially howled out in distress, her giant paws prodding none too gently into the dogs flank.
"Oh you cruel world, you've taken yet another one!"
Notes: I...apologize for how extra she is. xD

I was a light sleeper, had to be after my sister had always taken cheap shots, so my ears were perking up at the noises nearby. I was somewhat aware, but not quite awake as the voice of a female rang out. It sounded like it was far away, but that was likely because I was still technically sleeping. My breath was suddenly knocked from me, and my eyes snapped open in shock. Familiar with attacksw like that, I got up to my feet and bared my teeth, growling deep from within my chest in a warning to back away. Her questions barely registered as I tried to see her with my fuzzy, tired vision. A blob of white, not black like my sister. Slowly, my lips fell to cover my canines and I tilted my head in confusion.
I shook my head slowly as I finally was able to piece together what she was saying. "I'm... I'm not dead." I almost chuckled, amused as much as I was confused. "I was sleeping." I corrected her, taking a few steps back to put distance between us. Her paws had surely left bruises under my fur, and I was less than happy with it. Still, her intentions had been good. Right? Trying always to see the best in things I just smiled and asked, "Did you get into catnip? You're so hyper." I thought it was a clever joke, waiting to see if she reacted badly or laughed with me. © BRAVE 2017 Speech: "3d2139"

❝ We all must be dreaming this life away in a world so cold ❞
Frantically pawing at the other dog, Pandora's heart clenched tightly in her chest. Oh no - had she been too late? Was the world really this cruel?! About to howl out her sorrows, she was more than taken aback when the giant fluff of a dog had suddenly risen, briefly flashing his fangs at her and growling, like a bear that had been roused from its slumber. Now, any common dog with sense would probably hightail it outta there - or at least feel a bit frightened and bare their teeth back. But Pandora? Nope. The female's slightly curled tail only began to slowly wag, her bi-colored eyes lighting up slightly. "You're not dead!"
She knew it - she had totally called it...sorta.
"Sleeping?....Ooohhh....Oh....Oh." Slowly, everything was beginning to piece itself together and make sense. Ack, why hadn't she thought of that first?! Thankfully though, the dog didn't seem to know what the word 'embarrassment' meant, as she only seemed to 'shine' brighter, her pep not losing a step in the least. "Hah, I knew that!" She totally hadn't - but, there was no need for him to know that, now was there?
Not knowing the meaning of personal space, whatever steps that were taken back by the large dog, Pandora took a few of her own steps forward. Her nose twitched curiously as she peered at him, her floppy ears briefly perking at his teasing question. Thankfully, it seemed she was definitely one of those good-natured types - or at least a dog who knew how to take a joke. "Me? Hyper? Never!" The dog's muzzle curled into a playful smile, a small giggle echoing from her throat. Her thick tail hadn't stopped swaying in the least bit. "Although...when I was younger, I thought eating catnip would turn you into a cat - crazy right?!" She didn't exactly want to admit that she still sorta did believe in this still. After all, if it was called 'cat'nip - then what business did she have eating it? And dogs called her crazy - at least she didn't eat some cat-plant!
Notes: Sorry this took so long!

I raised an eyebrow slightly at her cheerful exclamation. Had she really thought I was dead? Was this dog a little on the slow side, or was exaggeration just a part of her personality? I was more tempted to believe the latter as my body relaxed, eased by her voice and her behavior that showed no knowledge of being ashamed by her mistake. Truthfully I found that quite appealing, and I felt my muscles loosen even more, my tail wagging happily. Finding a female that was the complete opposite of my sister was always the greatest relief. Her pale coat shone under the sun as she moved closer to me, and I then started getting a bit anxious.
Her denial of hyper behavior was laughable, but I was polite enough not to laugh at her, at least not in her face. I'd be giggling about this for days, surely. When she began t talk about her past experience with catnip, a snort of laughter left my nostrils. I hung my head to try and silence my snorting, but I ended up laughing softly. After a moment to calm my giggles I looked at her with a bright smile. "I can understand why you'd think that, the name does sort of imply something, huh?" I chuckled, sitting down. I was vastly more relaxed than a moment ago; she was such an easy personality. I felt almost no anxiety sitting with her. © BRAVE 2017
